The Desperate Female Population of America Has A New Hashtag

It has been a while since I’ve last updated this blog, but this trending new topic, sparked by a convicted felon’s mugshot has aroused my attention- and not in the way that it has seemingly aroused the attention of the lovely (and clearly ovulating) women of the internet. In case you missed it, which I highly doubt, Stockton California native, Jeremy Meeks, was convicted on gang and armed weapons charges along with 3 of his (obviously less attractive) gang-banging companions. Since his arrest, Meeks’ photos have gone viral.

To make matters worse, esteemed news outlets have even visited Meeks in prison for interviews. Because, of course, a good looking felon is worthy of national news. Do we need to be reminded as a society the difference between infamy and fame yet again? How many crimes does one have to commit before it becomes ‘sexy’? Seriously- some guys out there are seriously wondering. If this incident of criminal-gone-celebrity is at all telling of American pop culture’s future, I can only imagine what is next. As my gift to you, shameless citizens, let me map out the week in hashtags:

#MurderCrushMonday, #TantalizingTerroristTuesday, #WomanBeatingBabeWednesday, #ThugLoveThursdays, #FelonCrushFriday (that one was a freebie, thank you Jeremy!), #SexySexOffenderSaturdays, #ShopLiftingSexGodSundays (for all of you PG criminal lovers out there). While Meeks is claiming his innocence, the real crime that we can be sure of is the fact that the female population have traded in their dignity for desperation.
