If Miley Cyrus was a graduating senior at Music Industry High, her superlative would undoubtedly be “Most Changed”. When people discuss Miley’s drastically changing image, there tends to be a negative stigma attached to the once wig-wearing Hannah Montana star who has grown into her own image. Don’t get me wrong, I, too, was a little confused when Miley ditched her tween-appealing alter-ego for a shaved head and gold chains. But can we really blame her? As an artist who got her start as a product of the Disney Channel machine, she had to make drastic moves to break free from the bubble-gum image that has tainted many of the adult careers of those before her. Take for example Raven Symone. The “That’s So Raven” star was a hit as the vivacious, psychic teenager on her show, but let’s face it, her music career was a flop. Her most well-known album (don’t feel bad if you didn’t know it existed) titled, “This is My Time” had marginal success, reaching only 51 at its peak position on the Billboard 200 Chart. This is definitely not a reflection of Symone’s musical talent, I actually think she has more raw vocal talent than a lot of the top artists today. The problem is, she failed to do what Miley Cyrus is being both praised and criticized for as I’m writing this article; she couldn’t successfully change her image far away from the Disney-idolizing crowd to attract a more serious, more respected audience.

Challenging society’s moral integrity by flaunting her newfound joint-smoking image on every social media outlet possible may not have been the smartest way to get people to see that she is not the same kid who once graced our television screen as Hannah Montana, but hey, whatever floats your boat Miley!

Perhaps she’s taking tips from Snoop Dog turned Snoop Lion, who recently showed us that changing your image can be as simple as changing your name.Whatever is in store for Miley, I praise her

individualism, and encourage her to keep embracing change! Here’s her latest single produced by Mike WIll Made It. I “Can’t Stop” listening! I’d like to think of her latest single, “We Can’t Stop”, from her upcoming album as an ode to the final chapter in her transformation from teen pop-star to adult artist. You don’t have to agree with Miley’s new image, but you do have to commend her for sticking to her guns and being brave enough to venture into new, more racy waters. If you think relentless criticism is going to change this starlet’s mind about her image, think again! She’s already proved that she can ‘Twerk and collaborated with some of the most respected artists and producers in the Hip-Hop industry, there’s no telling what’s next to come for Miley Cyrus!
